The Black Architecture Bike Tour
Curated by NOMA of Central Texas, Black Resilience highlights places and spaces that were designed by Black architects and/or play a significant role in Austin’s Black community. The tour begins in Clarksville, the oldest surviving freedman’s district west of the Mississippi River, and from there traces the forced eastward migration of Austin’s Black community following the City’s adoption of the segregationist 1928 Master Plan.

NOMA National Conference
The NOMA Annual Conference is more than a gathering; it is the heartbeat of a movement. For over five decades, we have convened to celebrate excellence, challenge the status quo, and build the infrastructure for a more just profession. Join us as we continue this journey of transformation.
The National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA) is a nonprofit serving as the premier advocate for equity and inclusion within architecture and design, representing a growing collective of students and professionals. NOMA's mission is to ensure every voice has the power to shape the built environment. Since its founding in 1971 to support the pioneering few Black licensed architects, NOMA has evolved into an essential anchor of over 4,000 members of all origins, working tirelessly to increase the representation of underrepresented groups through advocacy, professional development, and design excellence. NOMA empowers its members to shape a more equitable profession that reflects the rich diversity of the communities we serve.

The Big Give
Our mission at NOMA of Central Texas is to empower young people to affect change in their community through design. We advocate for increased diversity, fellowship, equity, and excellence in design. Project Pipeline uses the city as the classroom, and connects young people to real world architects and planners to foster the next generation of design professionals, civic leaders, and change makers.
Although it costs us $150 per student to cover supplies, food, and other expenses over the duration of the camp, we maintain a relatively low $20 registration fee for each camper in order to ensure that cost is not a barrier for students interested in attending Project Pipeline. Fees may be waived altogether when necessary. Your generous donation goes directly towards keeping our camp accessible for all.
